People often find Russia in the middle of controversies and international disputes, so they tend to not bother to find out what makes the country great. What they miss out on is that this country has much to boast about and explore.

As of 2007, it was estimated that 141 million people live in Russia with a growth rate of -.5%. There have been around 160 ethnic groups that comprise the Russian population. Around 79.8% of the total population is Russian, while the rest is composed of minorities such as Tatar, Ukrainian, Bashkir, Chuvash, and other unspecified ethnicities.

There are three major languages spoken in Russia. First is the Russian language, which is considered to be the official state language, followed by Tatar and German. According to census studies, Russia holds a 100% literacy rate as of 2003.

The monetary unit used is the Russian ruble. As for religion, the majority of the population practices Russian Orthodox, while the rest practices Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism.

With the background and political situation Russia is in, it is worthy to note that Russians are naturally tough people. They are frank and straightforward and say whatever they want to say, leaving no room for misunderstanding.
